Pyrex® glass
The Pyrex® glass is unique. It is a borosilicate glass that is tempered, of superior quality and has a great thermal and mechanical shock resistance. It is perfectly adapted to extreme temperatures, from –40° to 300°, and has a high thermal shock resistance that can go up to 220°.
All the Pyrex® glass products can be used safely in the oven and freezer and the other way around. It defies all culinary expectations, from prepping to serving directly, by going through a whole cooking process, to storing and reheating.
The Pyrex® glass is made of pure sand (80%), soda (4%), Alumina (2,5%) and bore (13%). This mix is melted in a glass oven at a temperature of about 1500°C, it then quickly turns into a type of transparent lava which can be quite dazzling – we can only observe it from afar through a special screen that is only used by glass blowers. Whilst in the oven the material is then “refined” in order to take out all the CO2 bubbles that release during fusion.
With the revision of the production oven, 2017 have been an important year for this incredible brand in the French industry. The reconditioning that is done each 5 years, ensures the production of the glass borosilicate dishes goes fluidly. To become one of the biggest ovens in the world in glass category and be one of the top 5 in efficiency requires a day to day investment and a special attention from the Pyrex® brand passionate workers in order to preserve and sustain the furnace that is rebuilt with advanced technologies.
